Record audio from your microphone and download it instantly
What is the Voice Recorder?
The voice recorder works like this: it records microphone audio with the browser’s MediaRecorder engine - echo cancellation, noise suppression and auto gain included - showing a live level meter and timer so you can confirm the mic is actually picking you up, then saves the take as an Opus audio file. Everything happens on your device - the input never leaves your tab unless the tool clearly states it performs a server-side lookup.
How to use the Voice Recorder
Press Start recording and allow microphone access when the browser asks.
Watch the level bars - they should dance with your voice; silence means the wrong mic is selected (check the browser’s mic picker).
Pause and resume freely; stop when done.
Play it back, then Download to save - the file lands in your downloads folder.
Features
Live 24-bar level meter driven by real audio analysis - confirms mic and volume before you commit
Browser-grade audio processing on by default: echo cancellation, noise suppression, automatic gain
Pause/resume without splicing - one clean file per session
Opus encoding - the best quality-per-megabyte speech codec, ~10x smaller than MP3 at equal quality
Common mistakes to avoid
Recording in a noisy room with suppression off in OS settings - browser noise suppression helps, but distance from the mic matters more
Assuming the recording is lost if the tab closes - it is; download before navigating away
Clipping by shouting into the mic - the level meter going fully red means distortion that no processing can undo
Recording long meetings without checking the meter first - a mis-selected input device records silence

Frequently asked questions
Where do recordings go?
Nowhere but your computer. Audio is captured into browser memory and written to your downloads folder as a file. There is no server storage, no email, no cloud copy.
What format is the recording?
WebM containing Opus audio - the standard browser recording format. Opus is what WhatsApp voice notes and Discord use; every modern player supports it, and this site’s audio converter can turn it into MP3 or WAV if you need those.
Can I record phone calls or system audio?
No. Browsers only grant web pages access to the microphone, not to other apps’ audio - that isolation is deliberate. For system audio use the screen recorder’s tab capture, or an OS-level loopback tool.
Is there a recording time limit?
No hard limit - you are bounded only by device memory. Speech in Opus uses roughly half a megabyte per minute, so even an hour-long lecture is manageable.
