Format, validate, and beautify JSON code online
JSON, short for JavaScript Object Notation, is a text format for representing objects, arrays, strings, numbers, booleans, and null values. It is deliberately simple, which makes it common for APIs and configuration files.
| Input | Result |
|---|---|
| {"name":"Ada","skills":["math","code"]} | { "name": "Ada", "skills": [ "math", "code" ] } |
| {"enabled":true,"count":3} | { "enabled": true, "count": 3 } |
Formatting and validation happen in your browser. The JSON you paste is not uploaded by this tool.
No. This formatter parses the text in your browser and does not send the JSON to a server.
Yes. A valid JSON array can be formatted just like a JSON object.
Standard JSON does not include comments. Remove them or use a configuration format that explicitly supports comments.
Minify removes indentation and extra whitespace while keeping the data structure unchanged.
JSON has no native date type. Dates are normally represented as strings, often in ISO 8601 format.
The character offset (and nearby context) of the first syntax violation - usually a trailing comma, an unquoted key, or a single instead of double quote - so a broken payload is fixed in seconds.
Never - pretty-printing and minifying only alter whitespace between tokens, which JSON parsers ignore. Validation runs first so invalid input never gets "formatted" into something misleading.
