Convert HTML into clean Markdown for READMEs, CMSs and notes apps
The html to markdown converter works like this: it converts HTML to Markdown with the turndown engine: headings, lists, links, images, code, blockquotes and tables survive; presentational markup is dropped. Everything happens on your device - the input never leaves your tab unless the tool clearly states it performs a server-side lookup.
| Input | Result |
|---|---|
| A formatted email signature block | Clean Markdown you can paste into a CMS or README |
All parsing and transformation happens locally in this tab - your code and data are not sent anywhere.
Markdown has no layout concept - containers unwrap and styling drops; only semantic content survives, which is usually what you want.
GFM-style pipe tables are produced when the HTML table is simple; complex merged-cell tables degrade gracefully to their text.
Structural markup - headings, lists, links, images, code, blockquotes and tables become their Markdown equivalents; purely presentational tags (font, center) are dropped.
Nesting depth is preserved with correct indentation, which is the part of hand-converting that most often goes wrong - sub-items land at the right level every time.
