Calculate MD5, SHA file checksums online
The checksum works like this: it computes CRC32, MD5, SHA-1 and SHA-256 checksums of any local file to verify download integrity. Everything happens on your device - the input never leaves your tab unless the tool clearly states it performs a server-side lookup.
| Input | Result |
|---|---|
| ubuntu-24.04.iso | SHA-256 digest to compare against the publisher's checksum |
Only the identifier you explicitly enter is sent for public-database lookup. Browser-side checks never transmit anything.
SHA-256 - it replaces MD5/SHA-1 where collision resistance matters. Match whatever the publisher publishes.
Whenever you download installers or ISOs - the publisher publishes the expected digest, you compute the file's digest here, and a match proves the download arrived byte-for-byte intact.
Whatever algorithm the publisher named (SHA-256 is the modern default) - comparing digests across different algorithms is meaningless because they produce entirely different values.
